How Cascadia Merge handles your data and network traffic

This website

This website consists of static pages. Our hosting and a CDN process IP addresses and access logs when you open a page, as every web server does. The site itself has no accounts and no forms.

A visit counter from statinside.com records page visits. It counts how often pages are opened. Pressing the download button records the time, your IP address, your browser user agent and the referral source, if there is one, so that we can count downloads. The button then redirects you to the installer.

Because the pages are static, there is nothing to log in to and nothing to fill in. What your browser sends when it asks for a page, such as its address and its user agent, can appear in the access logs of the hosting and the CDN. If you prefer not to be counted, you can block the visit counter in your browser; the pages stay readable without it.

The Cascadia Merge app

Cascadia Merge runs locally on your Windows PC and sends no telemetry. Your chats, working folders and API keys stay on your PC. Secrets in tool output are redacted before they reach the model. Prompts go only to the model endpoint that you pick, and you can change that endpoint at any time.

With a local model nothing leaves the machine. With a cloud model the prompt text goes to that provider, including the text of files that the agent reads, so keep out of the chat anything you do not want that provider to see. The provider handles that data under its own terms.

You do not need an account to run the app. The installer build enables automatic updates, and the app shows an Update button when a new version is ready.

Redaction covers secrets in tool output. It does not make a cloud model private: that model still sees the rest of the prompt and the text of the files the agent reads. For a config file that holds a password, a local model is the safer choice, and the models page compares the three kinds of model side by side.

Optional features that use the network

Web search is optional and can run over an anonymizing network. When you use it, the search query leaves your PC. The agent can also read a documentation page with http_get when you ask for it, and that request goes to the address of the page.

You can control chats from a phone browser. This feature uses one outbound connection from your PC, and you can switch it off. Update checks also use the network, because the app has to learn whether a new version exists.

Your choices

You choose the model. A local model keeps the prompt text on your PC, and a cloud provider receives it. You choose whether to use web search and whether to switch on phone control. You also choose the working folder of every chat, and the file tools work inside that folder. To keep the prompt text on your PC, connect a local model and leave web search and phone control switched off.

Your API keys stay on your PC and are not uploaded to this website. If you do not want the visit counter to record you, block it in your browser; the pages still work without it.

Contact

The Send feedback button inside the app is the way to ask a question or report a problem, including a question about this privacy page. This website has no other contact form. Cascadia Merge is not affiliated with Anego Studios, the developer of Vintage Story.
